Slammed -Colleen Hoover

The emotionally raw, beautifully poignant debut novel that launched Colleen Hoover’s historic career in contemporary fiction. The plot follows eighteen-year-old Layken Cohen, who is struggling to rebuild her life and support her grieving family following the sudden, tragic death of her father. After moving across the country to Michigan, Layken forms an immediate, consuming connection with her new twenty-one-year-old neighbor, Will Cooper, a young man who shares her profound grief and introduces her to the electric, emotionally cathartic world of slam poetry; however, their blossoming romance is instantly derailed by a shocking, structural real-world realization, forcing them to balance intense desire with heavy, mature familial responsibilities.
